Earlier today at the bus station after getting off the first bus of my daily routine I went ahead and sat myself down at a bench to wait for my next bus, next to me there was a man and his child and a man on a wheelchair. The child was just happily jumping about, and then an elderly woman approached his father and in her broken english asked him if he had 50 cents. The man was happy to help her out and reached into his pockets and dug out some change for her. As this happened she noticed he was carrying around a little kart full of plastic rings which he himself sells. She was very into them and had told him if she had the money she would have loved to buy one. He told her they are 2 for a dollar just in case they happen to meet again. She started thinking out loud and then asked her self in spanish “How much was it for the bus ride again? I think I need around 85 cents.” The man without hesitation pulled some more change out of his pocket and told her to not worry about it. She seemed very happy and told him “Que dios te bendiga a tu y a tu hijo, muchas gracias!” and had then left. The man then sat down and continued on with his day. The man on the wheelchair was very observant and kept an eye on the elderly woman. The whole time he was quiet watching everything go down and a couple of minutes later he turned his wheelchair towards the man and said “Mira esta vendiendo un transfer la señora a una muchacha para agarrar mas dinero.” That meant that the whole time she was not in need of money because she had a transfer to get a free bus ride but decided to sell it to get more money. The man was not shocked or bothered and shrugged it off and both started to laugh about it as the the man on the wheelchair said “La pura maldad verdad?”
